Junior Forum lays the foundation to prepare you for success. Students learn the why behind how they learn. You start to realize that you are in charge of you learning, and understand how your brain processes information. Like all SuperCamp programs, Junior Forum focuses on academic, life and career skills. Come with us as we dive deeper into three key areas that are essential for success and have lots of fun!
Here’s your overview of the 7-day Junior SuperCamp at Green Camp Bali:
Day 1 Welcome. You arrive, check in, meet your roommate and get settled. Team Leaders facilitate large group games and the energy is high. The afternoon session officially begins your journey of learning and discovery. There are introductions of the staff, team-building games, learning activities, a tour of the campus, and dinner with your new team. The evening continues with a focus on the 8 Keys of Excellence and the day ends with reflection and a journal-writing opportunity.
Day 2 This morning you explore the Key about making the most of every moment – This Is It! New traditions are established and you get a taste of how we teach and learn in our mini academic sessions – Math Mastery, Memory Upgrade and Focus Up! In the evening, team members learn about communication with the Key of Speak With Good Purpose. Meanwhile, you’re finding out more about each other, building trust, and understanding people.
Day 3 This day opens with SuperCamp traditions and focuses on teamwork, relationships with others, and knowing yourself better. Day three’s Key is Ownership, so we begin by taking responsibility for your actions. Collaboration becomes the focus in the afternoon as you apply what you have learned about yourself in a team setting. In the evening session, you continue to build the level of trust with your teams and welcome the outdoor adventure leaders that’ll help them explore safety and expectations.
Day 4 In the morning you will learn about the Key of Commitment as you get pumped up for Outdoor Adventure Day. You’ll challenge themselves in a safe environment, where your teammates and friends will hold your safety lines, cheering you on to success as you navigate high wires that are exhilarating and fun. In the evening, you and your team talk about what you learned in the outdoor adventure and then participate in Poetry Night—where you will be inspired and touched by what you and your friends feel, write, and hear.
Day 5 Morning traditions continue, including the Key of Flexibility. You will reinforce your ability to memorize with a strategy called “narrative chain.” It’s the perfect lead-in to a day of academic rotations including Quantum Study Strategies, Quantum Reading, and Quantum Writing. In the evening, you work with your teams while exploring the Key of Failure Leads to Success. Later that night, you will learn how to contribute meaningfully in relationships with friends and family.
Day 6 The Key of the day is Integrity. You will learn how to align actions with your beliefs and set goals for yourself for when you return home from camp. You will continue to rotate through academic sessions and connect more deeply with the whole camp as you creatively share more about yourself in the afternoon. Then in the evening you will take a look at rejection, peer pressure, and how to handle some of the more difficult times in middle school. The day concludes with individual strength acknowledgments as you receive and give accolades to your teammates with a celebration of learning in a high-energy Movement Workshop.
Day 7 Today’s focus is on the Key of Failure Leads to Success. You will complete the last full day of academic rotations, giving you many tools to apply on all your school subjects. You will review and practice your new skills in a crazy, fun way so you’ll be comfortable using them at school and home. For the past 7 days, you will have been on an incredible learning journey. Now celebrate your learning and discover the Key of Balance. It’s also a day of parting from teammates and others with whom you’ve connected, as well as reconnecting with family and friends sharing new thoughts, feelings, skills, and experiences.
What are the 8 Keys of Excellence?
When it comes to gaining new life skills at our learning and life skills camps, it all begins here. The 8 Keys of Excellence provide a framework for success in life. Success in all aspects of life depends on you. You are the master of your world. You create the direction and outcome of your life, and that’s the good news!
Match your behavior with your values. Demonstrate your positive personal values in all you do and say. Be sincere and real.
Failure Leads to Success
Learn from your mistakes. View failures as feedback that provides you with the information you need to learn, grow and succeed.
Speak with Good Purpose
Speak honestly and kindly. Think before you speak. Make sure your intention is positive and your words are sincere.
This is It!
Make the most of every moment. Focus your attention on the present moment. Keep a positive attitude.
Make your dreams happen. Take positive action. Follow your vision without wavering.
Take responsibility for your actions. Be responsible for your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions. “Own” the choices you make and the results that follow.
Be willing to do things differently. Recognize what’s not working and be willing to change what you’re doing to achieve your goal.
Live your best life. Be mindful of self and others while focusing on what’s meaningful and important in your life. Inner happiness and fulfillment come when your mind, body, and emotions are nurtured by the choices you make.
Exposure to the 8 Keys and to the broader life skills portion of the curriculum is one of the many aspects of our learning and life skills camps that make us unique among academic summer camps. Students are able to gain important new learning skills and with their newly-acquired life skills, they gain the confidence, motivation and interpersonal skills to apply them effectively in their lives.
Virtually every camper at SuperCamp benefits in one way or another from the life skills curriculum. Some of the life skills areas we cover include:
Our codes for personal excellence, the 8 Keys of Excellence, outlined above, give campers a life skills roadmap for life:
- >> Valuable communication skills to help convey needs and feelings in a positive manner.
- >> Relationship and problem-solving techniques to help resolve conflicts; this is one of the key life skills that helps in dealing with interpersonal teen issues.
- >> The value of “venturing out” of comfort zones.
- >> The importance of Living Above the Line.
- >> Goal-setting techniques – and how to break through the barriers that block success, which relates directly with pre-teen and teen motivation.
For seven fun, inspirational days, you will join other leaders between 11 and 13 years old for the camp of a lifetime, learning the world’s best accelerated learning skills while building the values of a global, green citizen.
